What we collect

When you use Apeat Seek, we collect:

  • Account data: .edu email, display name, profile photo (optional), bio (optional)
  • Profile data: gender, year, major, school, dietary restrictions, transportation status, international status
  • Phone number: required for restaurant reservations, never shared with other members
  • Activity data: dining requests, group memberships, chat messages, reputation events
  • Device data: standard web/mobile analytics (browser, OS, IP-derived approximate location)

How we use it

  • To match you with compatible students
  • To book restaurant reservations on your behalf
  • To maintain a trustworthy community via reputation and verification
  • To send transactional emails (matches, confirmations, reminders)

What we don't do

  • We never sell your data
  • We never share your phone number, real name, or email with other members
  • We never share your data with advertisers

Your rights

You can:

  • Edit or delete your profile at any time
  • Request data export by emailing privacy@apeat.ai
  • Delete your account (30-day grace period before permanent deletion)

Data retention

  • Active accounts: data retained for service operation
  • Deleted accounts: profile data deleted after 30 days
  • Past dinner records: anonymized after deletion

Compliance

We comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and align with FERPA student-data protections.
