What we collect
When you use Apeat Seek, we collect:
- Account data: .edu email, display name, profile photo (optional), bio (optional)
- Profile data: gender, year, major, school, dietary restrictions, transportation status, international status
- Phone number: required for restaurant reservations, never shared with other members
- Activity data: dining requests, group memberships, chat messages, reputation events
- Device data: standard web/mobile analytics (browser, OS, IP-derived approximate location)
How we use it
- To match you with compatible students
- To book restaurant reservations on your behalf
- To maintain a trustworthy community via reputation and verification
- To send transactional emails (matches, confirmations, reminders)
What we don't do
- We never sell your data
- We never share your phone number, real name, or email with other members
- We never share your data with advertisers
Your rights
You can:
- Edit or delete your profile at any time
- Request data export by emailing privacy@apeat.ai
- Delete your account (30-day grace period before permanent deletion)
Data retention
- Active accounts: data retained for service operation
- Deleted accounts: profile data deleted after 30 days
- Past dinner records: anonymized after deletion
Compliance
We comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and align with FERPA student-data protections.
